What is The Local Flower Collective?

The Local Flower Collective is a hub for local florists to have better access to sustainably farmed Ontario-grown flowers. It is run by growers and florists whose goal is to ensure that more local and ecologically friendly flowers are accessible in Toronto and the GTA. It is mainly operates as a wholesale business between growers and florists, but if you are a non-member and want to support local businesses, check our members and weddings page.

What are Local Flowers?

The flowers we distribute are grown as far east as Prince Edward County and as far west as Niagra and north into Grey County. They are flowers grown in our local climate that don’t cross oceans or ride in planes. They are grown by small farms in and around the GTA. Want to know what we grow? Check out our Pinterest page!

Why Choose Local Flowers?

Imported flowers have a much higher carbon footprint than in-season blooms that have been locally grown. Purchasing flowers during the growing season and from local farmers is something that can lessen environmental impact and benefit our community. If you are looking for tips on how to care for local blooms, you can look at our cut flower care tips.

I’m not a florist - how can I access Local Flowers?

You can purchase local flowers from any one of our florist members find the list here. Or check out what some the growers offer! The local growing season is from May to October. If you are interested in local flowers for your wedding find more info here.

Who can become a member of the collective?

The Local Flower Collective is trade only and accepts a select number of members each year. If you are a grower or a florist and are interested in becoming a member, please fill out the appropriate application found in the navigation bar above. Once we have received your application, we will follow up with you to discuss the next steps.

Why Become a member?

Being a member of The Local Flower Collective gives you access to our thriving local flower community. The Collective is a one-stop-shop for both florists and growers.

As a grower, you have the opportunity to sell your product to a large number of Toronto florists and our convenient location means you only have to deliver to one place.

As a florist, you have access to our buying platform where you can order from our growers, our rental inventory for weddings and events, and our list of talented freelancers.

Do you have to pay to be a member?

Yes, we do have membership fees starting at $125/yr. We offer different types of memberships depending on your needs. Once you have filled out the application we will follow up with you to discuss these options.

Do you have to be based in Toronto to be a member?

As a grower, it is best if you are located no further than a 2 hr drive from Toronto, as you will be delivering your flowers to our studio, often weekly. We do strongly recommend connecting with a grower near you to share the delivery route whenever possible.

As a buyer, we offer delivery to locations in Toronto and the surrounding area but we recommend picking up your order instead of delivery. We do not guarantee delivery times.

If you are a florist who is coming in from out of town, we offer a BUYERS PASS for those occasions. Please email us if you are interested in that option.

When are you open?

We are open from May to October with a few extra dates in November for Winter Greens. The exact dates are determined by Mother Nature.

Once our season begins, our online shop is open from Thursday-Sunday. And orders are picked up on Wednesdays. Some products can be picked up on Tuesdays.

Wednesday Hours: 10:30am - 2:00pm

Can I purchase flowers from you for my wedding or event?

Yes! We offer À La Carte and DIY Packages for your weddings and events. Please visit our À La Carte FAQ and DIY FAQ pages for more information.
